Description: The adults who are most at risk of social exclusion because of disadvantage in employment in the East Midlands are: adults receiving secondary care mental health services, people with learning disabilities, offenders under probation supervision and young adults leaving care. PSA 16 was introduced nationally in April 2008 with the objective of offering socially excluded adults the chance to get back on a path to a more successful life by increasing the proportion of at risk individuals who have employment, training and accommodation.

Examples of excellence have been identified and there is a commitment to improve outcomes more widely through the spread and adoption of good employment practice, with the public sector leading by example. The engagement and contribution of Human Resource and Occupational Health professionals are recognized as of critical importance to delivering this improvement.

This event is being delivered through an established partnership between the DH, NHS East Midlands and Government Office of the East Midlands and is sponsored by the PSA 16 Sounding Board.

The objectives of the event are to work in partnership to:

 Share practical examples and case studies of achievement in the employment of people from the PSA 16 client groups, including employee and employer perspectives, to enable the spread and adoption of outcomes.
 Raise awareness of the business case and return on investment for developing inclusive employment practices.
 Demonstrate the levers for change in recruitment practice, particularly the alignment with current priorities including quality, productivity, prevention, engagement, reputation and legal compliance.
 Promote real images of people from the PSA 16 groups at work and tackle myths, stigma and discrimination that presents barriers to employment.
 Build capability and capacity through sharing expertise across sectors, generating suggestions on activities and resources that would enable further innovation and improvement at regional and local level.
 Secure commitment from participants to key priorities regionally and locally
